Yes, I recommend Paul Hormann for obedience dog training, especially if you have an intelligent but obstinate dog. My recent rescue, a 9-lb male poodle mix behavior was getting worse by the day as he was getting more comfortable in his new home; he was aggressive toward people and bigger dogs, lunging at cars, constantly barking at the television, vacuum cleaner, and whatever else he disapproved of that particular day.
Subconsciously, I knew he needed firm direction, but I was apprehensive because I did not want to make a bad situation worse and the material I was reading was offering conflicting information. No amount of treats or compassionate excuses for his past life was going to rectify the situation. It was either to hire a professional trainer or return him to the rescue group, which is something I never thought I would consider.
I chose Paul after speaking with several trainers based on his years of experience and willingness to work with my dog as an individual instead of merely applying generic methods. Two long training sessions later, I now have a dog I can live with.
Understand that you, the pet parent, will do most of the work. Commitment and consistency are crucial to success. Paul will train you to train your dog. Once you manage to get your dog to take you seriously, you will see progress.
I believe Paul is an honest person whose approach is firm but fair. I found him very easy to work with. He may be more expensive than other trainers you interview; however, for me, it was entirely worth it.
My dog and I have a way to go, but we are on the correct path. Our bond is stronger, and he is more confident in me each day; his behavior is improving rapidly. These were my objectives in hiring a trainer, and Paul met them.
Jude Fawley and Suzanna Bridehead, thank you.

My wife and I needed a dog trainer for our 3-month-old female golden retriever, Charlie. We did some research and found Paul through a Google search and decided to reach out to him based on all the excellent reviews he’s received. Our consultation conversation went well, and we made the necessary training and obedience appointments with Paul. His training methods are tried and true and work extremely well. He had little Charlie obeying commands of sit, stay, and come in just a few hours. Paul even worked our 11-year-old son into the training hands-on. Paul checked up on Charlie’s progress and was available and prompt in answering any questions we had. We followed his instructions and the training exercises he set out for us, and the results were amazing.
Charlie, now 5.5 months old, is well-behaved and obedient. Paul is a wealth of knowledge, a true professional, and a great guy. We are extremely happy with his services and would recommend him to anyone. Thanks, Paul, from Rick, Kristyn, and Jaksyn.

Paul was amazing from start to finish. Super responsive in setting up the initial appointment, followed up after our first session, and worked around our schedule for our last session. He helped us out big time with our puppy Golden and was so fun to work with. If you need help with your dog, Paul is your guy.

Paul is an excellent dog trainer. The techniques shared, implemented, and practiced are making a world of difference for our dog and our family. Overall, great experience! Highly recommend.

Paul was amazing. We had 2 constantly barking Pomeranians that ran the ship. They were wee pad trained and didn’t know what command was. Paul came and within 45 minutes they were no longer barking. Oh, the quiet is incredible!!!! They also learned to sit and no longer jump up the back of my legs.
We are now using the outside potty too. Paul suggested crate training because of the previous wee pads, but I am not crazy about crates, and he came up with a plan to work around my stubbornness.
We have one Pomeranian who refused to pee in the grass, and now she lets me know when she has to go out. Not by barking, but by grunting at me. Lol By the end of his second visit, we are now doing sit and stay and do. We cannot thank Paul enough for all his help and knowledge.

I was online looking for a dog trainer for obedience training for my 4-month-old GSD, and Paul Hormann, the obedience dog trainer, came up. I read a few of the reviews and nothing but positive reviews. Likewise, I decided to get more information, so I called Paul Hormann and from the minute we spoke on the phone, I was super excited about my dog starting the training. Paul went over all my concerns and helped remedy them. The trick is, that once you learn what you have to do, you have to be patient when training your dog and be consistent with the training.
Thank you, Paul Hormann, for all your help and knowledge. The training never ends, it just gets better and easier over time. So if you are looking for a dog trainer, Paul Hormann is your guy, don’t hesitate to give him a call. Best of luck with your training.

I had an exceptional experience with our dog trainer, Paul! We were facing challenges with our energetic Chihuahua puppy, particularly with biting and obedience issues. Paul devoted three hours to us during his initial visit, demonstrating not only his dedication but also his effective training techniques. Impressively, he equipped us with the skills to teach JellyBean essential commands like “sit,” “come,” “down,” “leave it,” and most importantly, “No!”
What sets Paul apart is not just his expertise in dog training but also his approachable and supportive demeanor. He creates a comfortable and engaging environment, making the training process enjoyable for both the pet and the owner. The convenience of having Paul come to our home was invaluable, ensuring that JellyBean could learn in a familiar setting, which I believe contributed significantly to our success.
Paul is not only a phenomenal dog trainer but also a genuine and friendly individual. His approach to training and his ability to connect with both pets and their owners truly sets him apart. If you're seeking a dog trainer who will make a real difference, I wholeheartedly recommend Paul!

Paul is so experienced, and my dogs made liars out of me! I am a returning customer! He literally knows how to read your baby and knows how to teach them both respect and love for their owners! He also knows what works for one dog doesn’t always work for another. Likewise, he tries until he finds with works for your dog!!! Happy mom means happy dog!!!

My experience with Paul Hormann was fantastic. I contacted Paul for my Chihuahua “JellyBean”! My sweet JellyBean is a very tiny, small Chi puppy with tons of energy. Many people say that Chihuahuas are one of the hardest breeds to train. But, Paul proved that wrong! Paul's knowledge, combined with the caring natural love that he has for dogs, immediately shined through during his training with JellyBean. Training was done in our home, which in my opinion, makes the dog feel more comfortable and adaptable to the learning experience. In just a few hours, JellyBean was responding to commands with confidence!
Soon, I had a puppy Chihuahua less than 14 weeks old who followed commands such as: sit, walk, stay, come, leave it, using ramp/stairs, using harness and leash & more confident with her potty training! Paul's training and his knowledgeable advice have helped my JB become an obedient, socialized, happy puppy and has helped me as a dog parent as well. Looking forward to a happy, healthy, great future with my tiny little Chihuahua, 'JellyBean'!

I can honestly say that before I talked to Paul, I was ready to throw in the towel and return my rescue dog, Charlie, to the shelter where I had adopted him. I was beyond frustrated, felt that I had somehow made a terrible mistake, and had ended up with a dog that was aggressive, untrained, and a non-stop peeing and pooping machine that would never be housebroken. Paul called me back the same day I left my message (on a Sunday), and after speaking with him for nearly half an hour, I resolved to give obedience training a shot. His confidence shone through the phone, and I felt hope. Near the end of the week, I was ready to give up again, but Paul called that night to check in and confirm plans for our weekend training session. Once again, I felt he could help turn things around, and I eagerly waited for our session.
From the moment Paul walked in the door (literally), he set the tone for the training, and his demonstration unlocked all the issues I was having with Charlie—it was me. I was the problem. Despite having experience with an older, previously trained dog, I had no idea how to deal with a dog still firmly in his puppy era (9-month-old). I was letting Charlie rule the roost. I'm sure he was happy in his brief sprint as the alpha of our pack. Once he learned his place in the pack (and mine). Everything changed for the better. As soon as Paul showed me how I had to communicate with him and take control—through stern but completely humane methods—suddenly Charlie was no longer the untrained, difficult dog; but one that learned fast and responded to correction. By the end of the first session, he had stopped all his play, biting and chewing things he chewed, had a firm grasp of “leave it” and was already walking better on the leash.
Paul put us on a strict schedule for housebreaking, and the daily accidents became weekly accidents, only occurring when I deviated from the plan. Within a couple of weeks, he had graduated from being tethered to me indoors to being able to relax with us in the kitchen and living room (gated) unleashed, to a few weeks later not needing the gates. He fully adjusted to the schedule and gets better at letting us know when he needs to go outside if we (the problem humans) forget the scheduled time.
I cannot recommend Paul and his training highly enough. He showed me that I had adopted a great dog—and gave me the confidence and tools to be a much better owner. He trained me well, and he can do the same for you.

After researching trainers I decided to try Paul Hormann at Obedience Dog Training. After calling him my first thought was wow! this is costly but now I must say don’t let this scare you because it was well worth it. He came to my home and on the very first session the results were amazing. We continued to practice the same training with our dog daily. After our second session again it was exciting to see our large puppy dog advance with leaps & bounds! Our difficult, stubborn girl is now enjoyable and a real pleasure to be around.

Paul is such an amazing trainer! I can honestly say that my relationship with my dog is 10x better now due to what I learned while working with Paul. Since the moment that he walked in the door my miniature poodle respected him. Paul was attentive and very thorough with his explanations. He provided suggestions on leashes, collars, and harnesses, and answered every single question I had. He allowed me to record during the training, provided notes of the lessons, and even included my younger brother to be part of the training. Booking Paul as a trainer is a great investment and your pup will thank you!

His training and methods have made a significant improvement in my dog’s behavior. I’m continuing to put into practice the techniques that he taught me. I would highly recommend him!

Paul is an expert in the field. He is firm and effective in his techniques. From obedience to overcoming a dog's fear of stairs to potty training, Paul's the one you want to get you sorted out. He's so good, we only needed 5 out of the 6 hours we were allocated for. We could not be happier. We have already given him several referrals. Thanks again, Paul! Stellar job.

Paul gave us the confidence to work with our new puppy. He provided good insight into our dog’s behavior and gave us strategies to address them. His hands-on training for me and my family was clear, simple, and easy to practice. Before Paul, we had considered giving our puppy up due to challenging behaviors. We are so thankful that he showed us, with the right training, what a great dog she actually is.

Paul was amazing to work with to say the least. We called him for help with our 3 month old goldendoodle, and saw an immediate difference from the first training session. Paul not only trained our dog, but he gave us training we never would have known we needed on how to manage our dog and help us build a strong bond. The positive change in our dog’s behavior has been consistent and ongoing since the first training session. Don’t let the price scare you, it is well worth it and he is much better than any other trainers I have dealt with.

Paul was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING to work with. Prior to the first session, we had an extensive conversation about all of the problem behaviors we were having with our new adopted dog, Kolby. He assured us that he could remediate all of the concerns AND HE DID!
When Paul arrived at our home for the first session, he had an immediate impact on our dog, Kolby, within moments of meeting him. Paul had a presence and Kolby had a deep respect for his dominance. We were so impressed at his command of our dog that was driving us crazy!
We began our first session by reviewing Paul's notes from our earlier phone conversation. We sat down, discussed the concerns, prioritized them and got right to work. Paul worked with me, my husband and children to ensure we would be successful after he left. He came for two sessions two weeks apart which each lasted 2-3 hours and were hands on with all members of the family.
We learned basic commands such as sit, stay, come, heel, and leave it and were able to remediate the problem behaviors (jumping on counters, scratching doors, housebreaking, etc). He put Kolby (and us) on a housebreaking schedule that worked! After modeling each new skill, we had the opportunity to practice and receive pointers from Paul on ways to improve. Then he provided the strategies which were typed with visuals and hand written notes specific to Kolby (and us). Paul made sure we were clear on how to be successful and provided us with the tools to be successful after he left.
We are so grateful for Paul, for his passion, patience and commitment. Training the newest member of our family was so important to us and we could have never imagined the outcome. Paul is definitely worth the investment!
We would highly recommend Paul for all of your pups- he is easy to talk to, super helpful, and EFFECTIVE! Paul worked wonders for our pup, Kolby, and can for yours too!

Paul is very easy to talk to and makes training fun.

Paul is amazing. From the moment he walked in the door he had command of our 6-month-old Blue Heeler pup who we were struggling to train. After our first 3 hour training session we had the tools to teach our pup manners and saw a marked improvement in his behavior. Paul comes back a second time to fine tune the training and work on any additional issues you identify. I highly recommend his services.
